About

Pageant of the Masters is a 90 minutes show of displaying classical and contemporary paintings and sculptures with real people posing to look exactly like their counterparts in the original pieces. Pageant of the Masters takes place at an outdoor amphitheater with professional orchestra, original score, live narration and intricate sets. Each year the event will introduce different theme for the "living artworks" to be presented.

History
The "living artworks" idea came from artist and vaudevillian Lolita Perine who in the early 1930's dressed local residents in costume and seated them behind a makeshift frame to make a Living Pictures show. Living Pictures show became a hit and later in 1935 Roy Ropp developed the performance into its present-day format and then a year after the performance was renamed Pageant of the Masters
