The Riverside Dickens Festival is held at the Riverside Convention Center in historic downtown Riverside, California. The event is to provide educational, family-oriented, literary entertainment and activities. The featured book for 2011 will be Barnaby Rudge. Exciting activities and events for all ages are planned. The festival features plays, street performers, food vendors, educational workshops, musical performances and exhibits. Riverside Dickens Festival is funded in part by the City of Riverside and the Riverside Arts Foundation. Friday's Pickwick Pub Night fundraiser at 6:00 p.m. will open the 18th Annual Riverside Dickens Festival weekend. At 9:45 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings the Gordon Highlanders will hoist the Union Jack to kick off each day's activities. The London Marketplace and various activities will then continue until 5:00 p.m. each day. Evensong will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the First Congregational Church and the doors will open for Mr. Fezziwig's Ball at 7:30 p.m. at the Convention Center.
