The weekend will begin with a premier Heritage Gala Affair which will coincide with the culmination of Black History Month and the beginning of the San Diego Heritage weekend celebration.
The evening will feature a soulful dinner and reception with a program to highlight sponsors and vendors of the Heritage International Marketplace. Entertainment will include a live jazz band and a special key-note speaker, a short video of San Diego’s African American trailblazers & the history of the Heritage Day Festival & Parade.
Parade
The parade will take place starting at 9am with community members beginning to line the streets of Euclid Avenue and Imperial Avenue to celebrate Heritage Day in the spirit of food, fun, and little bit of competition. The sounds of high-school marching bands and the smells of international cuisine fill the air of these normally busy streets.
