Every year at the first weekend of October, the sky at the Seal Beach Municipal Pier is filled with colorful kites, large and small, long and short for the celebration of the annual Japan America Kite Festival. The festival attracts more than 6000 visitors and is one of the largest in Southern California.
The Kite Festival includes the following attractions and activities:
- Kites Display: display of various sizes of traditional and modern kites such as the huge caterpillar kite in the picture.
- Kite Ballet: See kite dancing in the sky along with music
- Kite Workshop: Let your little one see make a kite from scratch.
- DaionTaiko Drummers: See traditional Japanese Taiko Drum.
