Incorporated in 1951, the city of Scottsdale is in Sonoran Desert bordered by Phoenix, AZ to the west and the McDowell Mountains on the east. The midsize city has a population of 245,500 and is a major tourism destination with its year-round sunny weather, golf courses, resorts, nightlife, shopping areas and rich art and cultural amenities.
Old Town Scottsdale is the main attraction in Scottsdale with old fashion stores, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and western art galleries evoking the old cowboy era. Scottsdale's main cultural district is also in this area, which includes the high-end Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall, one of the twenty largest malls in the United States.
