Atlantic City





Atlantic City, incoporated in 1854, is a small city with population of 35,770 in Atlantic County, New Jersey and a nationally renowned resort city for gambling, shopping and fine dining. The city also served as the inspiration for the board game Monopoly. The city was home to Miss America Pageant contest from 1921 to 2005.

Atlantic City is located on Absecon Island on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Atlantic City is roughly 120 miles south of New York City and 62 miles southeast of Philadelphia.

The 5.75 mile(9.25 km) boardwalk along the Atlantic Ocean coastline is the main tourist destination area at Atlantic City. The boardwalk area is also where most casinos are located at including Taj Mahal, Tropicana, Showboat and Atlantic City Hilton. Besides the casinos, Atlantic City also features many shopping options including Atlantic City Outlets, The Quarter at Tropicana, Pier Shops at Caesars and the nearby Shore Mall in Egg Harbor Township and the Hamilton Mall in Mays Landing.
